The Cutty Wren is an atmospheric four-minute thriller illustrating the boredom of middle-class existence through a middle-aged man in a state of frailty and growing despair. His behaviour pushes the boundaries of acceptability as he struggles to come to terms with his idiotic self.

On the outskirts of London, by the woods, late into a dinner party with friends and family, our protagonist’s actions will be accompanied by the performance of one attendee, Phil Minton, singing the traditional English folk song, ‘The Cutty Wren’. He imagines a surreal sequence which takes place within the woods. As the song progresses, the protagonist at the party begins to dance, somewhat incongruously, before his escapist fantasy collides with reality.

The Cutty Wren is a micro-budget production, shot over 4 days on Red One. It is currently in post-production.
